With our new series, “Fashion After Fifty,” we plan to highlight some amazing individuals across Instagram who show that expressing yourself through personal style is something to be celebrated at any age.

Check out what we wore in March and follow these awesome fashion-forward women for some style inspiration!

Bright Colors

If there’s one thing you’ll notice when you look at Sabine N. Sassy’s (@sassybiene) Instagram, it’s that this over-50 stylist and image consultant is not afraid of color. Too often we settle into a color palette of grays and blacks as we age, but we don’t need to be cornered into a life of dreary uniforms.

This outfit looks cohesive and put-together, even with its bright, multicolor elements.

Unique Prints and Accessories

Full Feathers (@fullfeathersalways) is a style and confidence coach whose unique outfits encourage creativity and self-expression.

This outfit is a great example of transitioning from colder weather into spring, with a pair of black leather square-toed boots, a black sweater, and a lightweight scarf for a simple outfit base, and then an artsy red and black maxi skirt and unique decorative headband to spice it up a bit.

Animal Print

In her bio, lifestyle blogger Jacqui Berry (@mummabstylish) notes that she’s a fan of exciting clothes, and this outfit proves it.

Animal print is often seen as too loud, young, or wild, but balancing it with other basics can turn it into a sophisticated element of any outfit, as Jacqui illustrates with her high-waisted leopard print skirt and burnt orange ruffled blouse combo.

A Perfect Pair of Jeans

Lisa (@okaywithgray) is a mother, traveler, and home decor enthusiast, but she is obviously a fan of fashion as well, with a classic and cool personal style.

This look builds off of something every woman needs at any age: a great-fitting pair of jeans. From there she layers with a basic white tee, cardigan, and oversized gray jacket, completing the look with some timeless black shades and kitten heels.

Chic and Simple Style

Zilla (@style_queen_zilla) is a personal stylist who says she’s here to inspire and be inspired — and we can confirm that she definitely inspires!

With her classic-wash skinny ankle jeans, a red lip, tan mule sandals, and dark shades, her outfit radiates confidence. Not to mention the splash of leopard print, proving once again that paired with the right basics, animal print can be sophisticated and cool.
