Talk About Your Journey for a Healthy Lifestyle!

As a part of the Fit After Fifty Team, I naturally spend a good portion of my time in conversations with people about health, fitness, and staying motivated. Every now and then, I come across a story that reinvigorates my personal motivation to continue striving to help more people seek to live an active, healthy lifestyle. Recently one of those stories made it back to me from my husband, Tim, and I wanted to share it with you!

Quote-006Tim was taking a certification course recently. During the course he was driving Eric, the instructor, to and from his hotel each day. During those drives, they talked a lot about diet & exercise—primarily Tim recommended a few books and resources & discussed his own experience with different diets & exercises. About six weeks later, Tim received an email from Eric detailing his successes in the diet/exercise arena. This is what he wrote:

“I wanted to send a thank you for recommending the 3 books on diet. I read all three and am applying what I learned. I have lost 20 pounds since… and am doing very well with my blood sugar tests. I am usually under 100 even after eating… My doctor couldn’t believe my blood sugar numbers!”

This is a huge win for Eric—and huge evidence of the power we have to influence others’ lives and be influenced by others! This was huge encouragement for me, and hopefully for you too, to talk about your successes & helpful tools you’ve found along the way. You & I have an incredible opportunity to share our stories & motivate others to pursue healthy lifestyles, too! It may be a loved one, it may be the person you sit next to on the bus.

Think about it—the conversations Tim had with Eric literally changed Eric’s life! Dropping twenty pounds & lowering blood sugar levels significantly are no small feat! Eric turned Tim’s motivation & practical knowledge into six weeks of hard work that created a significant impact on his health. YOU can be the catalyst to someone’s change.

So get out there, start talking, be other’s catalysts & inspiration—and let others inspire & motivate you.

Share your journey in the comments area – we’d love to hear it!
